Supllying with water and treatment

The man is the guiltiest of this polluted water: the scraps of people lead to problems but India try to find solutions to preserve and to improve this damage.

I Supplying with water

In 50 years, more than 4000 dams 15 meters high were built, and this for two reasons : the first one being that they produce electricity, possibly to bring water to cities, but also to have a better control of irrigation with regard to the green revolution.

Dam of Narmada.

Between two and three millions wells dug in 30 years. Only day, about thousand wells are dug every year to pump water directly in the water tables.

II Measures for the treatment of water and for the quality of water

A Creation of water-treatment plant

For example, the creation of water-treatment plant used to eliminate composites witch are soluble (sugar, grease …) This installation is very expensive and it's difficult to have it for everybody. The CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) has established a network to control the installations across of the rivers country.

For example, Degrémont, a filial of Suez, inaugurated in Chennai in July, 2007, one of the biggest water processing factories of the countries which feeds about four million persons.

We note two improvements:

-The first is the interception and the diversion of used water in a center of treatment we used the gravity and we bring water in a station downstream without using pumps (energy).

- The second is with a bioreactor. Technology called AIWPS ((Advanced Integrated Wastewater Pond System) can bring oxygen not with a system of aeration but with algae and with photosynthesis. But in India, the solar energy is better than the electric energy because their power could be cut during some days. This technology is constitute with 4 ponds the fourth is used to kill the colon bacillus. In the biggest cities, they could offered such big installations.

B Improvement of the quality of water of wells

In western bengal, a university dug columms of community wells which enables at once to pull the water and to treat it against arsenic. The advantage of this installation is its cost, which is indeed very low.
